Instructions: which statement, when, and where
Transaction Disclosure Statement
A county officer or employee who will receive compensation for helping an individual or business entity in a transaction involving the county files this statement (Utah Code 17-70-504). File it on or before the earlier of 10 days before the agreement or 10 days before you receive compensation.
Also disclose the same information in an open meeting to the members of your council, board, or committee immediately before the discussion. This statement does not replace that disclosure.
Business Interest Statement
An elected officer files this statement for an interest in a business entity that does or expects to do business with the county (Utah Code 17-70-506). Use it if the interest is not in your most recent annual statement. Use one statement for each business entity.
Every officer, elected or not, must also disclose the interest in the meeting immediately before the body discusses a matter related to the entity. The minutes record the disclosure.
Where to file
This statement is a public record
For an elected officer, the Clerk posts each statement on the county website until the officer leaves office. A Transaction Disclosure Statement from any officer is public information (Utah Code 17-70-504(5)).
